Therapy
Counselling and psychotherapy are terms often used to describe the process of exploring and understanding our emotional lives through talking. I will use the word therapy to include both terms as a general description.
There are many reasons that bring people to therapy. Whether it involves coming to terms with a painful past, feeling uncertain about the future, wanting things to change, or an opportunity to learn more about yourself, therapy provides a confidential space to talk and think more deeply about your life and your experiences.
Therapy sessions involve a unique collaboration between therapist and client who together work towards an understanding of the client's difficulties. It is a relational and personal experience that can help you work through what may feel painful and confusing to think about on your own and subsequently find a way forward that feels right for you.
Therapy is not a 'quick fix' or a 'magic cure', it is usually a process that requires time and commitment. I will facilitate this process in helping you to think about your life and encourage you to experience your feelings.
